Boys Soccer Season Preview

Bulldogs Men’s Soccer heads into the 2022 season after an underwhelming performance in their 2021 campaign, finishing in fifth place in the South Metro League Division. The Bulldogs are now without their two captains of the prior season, with defender Keaton Orser and midfielder Payton Fukeda graduating.
Garfield will look to rebound this year, with a large amount of the varsity squad returning with some notable additions. First is Junior midfielder Aidan Cousseau, who shows a high work rate and a great understanding of the game. Next is Junior defender Ben Draine, who will look to help the Bulldogs strengthen up their backline with his physicality and communication. Lastly, coming over from The World School is Sophomore striker Santiago Vergara. Vergara just moved here from Columbia and is shaping up to be a cornerstone for the program over the next few years, showing poise and precision with the ball at his feet.
Although this year is looking to be a good one for the Bulldogs, an opening away game against arch-rivals Roosevelt will be a key indicator of what this team is capable of. The Bulldogs have their first home game on Thursday, March 17th at 6:45 pm against Franklin. With later home games this season, there is hope that we see the dog pound out and supporting their athletes at Memorial Stadium.
